About

Intelligent sports discussion

No town is a better sports town than Philadelphia. Cheapskate owners, bizarre personnel decisions and a startling lack of championships — although the Phillies are doing their part — only stoke the city’s passion to win. No fans are more knowledgeable than Philadelphia fans, whether they’re talking about their own teams or the general state of sports. And no one places higher reverence on success or takes losses more personally than the people of Philadelphia.

The Philly Sports Journal is a year-round destination for the thinking fan, with special emphasis on the Eagles, the Phillies and the college football landscape. The Journal does not hesitate to delve into national topics of interest.

Although this is primarily a football and baseball site, other sports occasionally find their way here.

Thoughtful fans from outside of Philadelphia need not worry. There is plenty here for you, too, and your points of view are welcome. The Philly Sports Journal is an alternative to soundbite sports coverage and the litany of thoughtless, disposable blogs that clutter the web. The Journal offers meaningful commentary, information you won’t find elsewhere and even sideline tidbits of interest about the Philadelphia region.

Finally, The Philly Sports Journal gives you an opportunity to share your opinions through blog comments and e-mails.

So pull up a chair. Read. Write. Explore. Enjoy. (And tell your friends!)
